The SEISS fourth grant will be available to claim from late April until the end of May
HMRC will be contacting those eligible for the fourth SEISS grant, based on their submitted tax returns.
People who are eligible will receive a claim date which they can apply from in late April 2021.
The Government’s SEISS web page explains:
The online service to claim the fourth grant will be available from late April 2021.
If you’re eligible based on your tax returns, HMRC will contact you in mid-April to give you a date that you can make your claim from.
It will be given to you either by email, letter or within the online service.
You’ll need to confirm you meet other eligibility criteria when you make your claim.
You must make your claim on or before June 1, 2021.
You can apply for the fourth SEISS grant if you are –
Self-employed or a member of a partnership and have traded in both the 2019 to 2020 and 2020 to 2021 tax years.
For the 2019 to 2020 tax year, the claimant must have submitted their tax return on or before March 2, 2021.
Many self-employed people who haven’t so far been able to claim a SEISS grant may qualify for the fourth and also for the fifth grant available later in the year – as long as they filed their 2019-20 Self-Assessment tax return by midnight on 2 March 2021. However, If you filed late you cannot apply. You do not need to have claimed the first, second or third SEISS payments to claim the fourth or fifth.
Claimants must be either “currently trading but are impacted by reduced demand due to coronavirus” or “have been trading but are temporarily unable to do so due to coronavirus”.
Claimants must also declare they intend to continue trading and that they “reasonably believe” there will be a “significant reduction” in their trading profits.
Before applying for the fourth SEISS grant, claimants should check the Government website to see if they are eligible.
